The best way to fly fish in northern Patagonia

PATAGONIA ON THE FLY is excited to share with you some of the best rivers to fly fish around northern Patagonia. With a home base located in San Martin de los Andes, Argentina, POF offers you access to more than eight rivers in the area and the privilege to stay in some of the finest estancias with miles of private access to the best waters and wild trout. We have our own lodge, Puente Negro, that many of our guests use as their home base for their stay. We are located on the Chimehuin River, but our close proximity to the paved road allows us to fish other nearby rivers in a day. We also offer programs where guests go to renowned streams that are a bit further away and use our partner lodges to host you for the night(s). Your trip can be organized depending on your needs and the type of fishing you are looking for. We are not a big corporation, and we pride ourselves on creating unique experiences for each of our guests. Professionalism and flexibility are what we offer when we plan these unique fishing trips. Maximize the fishing with the best access to the rivers while you enjoy the prettiest views, landscape, Argentinian culture, food, and wines. You will be fishing with friendly and professional guides who are fluent English speakers, locals from the area, and have been guiding for more than 10 years. We look forward to sharing all of our experience with you.

our lodge

Puente Negro Casa de Campo is the Patagonia On The Fly home base.
A historic and beautiful spot located right on the Chimehuin River with a spacious yard and asado area, our lodge has capacity for eight guests; four comfortable rooms - each with their own bathroom. Guests will enjoy the warm and inviting living room, and the outdoor patio and extensive garden to explore. The views and surrounding wildlife provide an authentic glimpse of Patagonia, while the coziness of the lodge will make you feel right at home. Its location, a mere ten minutes from the airport, makes it a great launching point to fish not only the incredible Chimehuin, but also the nearby Collon Cura, Alumine and Malleo Rivers, as well as surrounding lakes. An afternoon trip to the town of San Martin de Los Andes, only twenty minutes away, is always a fun option as well! The food is incredible - with a focus on fresh ingredients, and as a small, family run lodge, our hope is that you feel right at home.
WE CAN’T WAIT TO WELCOME YOU HERE!

Our team

Nico Schinocca

Born in San Martin de los Andes. At the age of 11, he caught his first fish on a fly rod and since then has spent all of his summers fishing the amazing Patagonian rivers and lakes with his father and brothers. Fishing and skiing became his passion. A full-time fishing guide since 2008, Nico has always looked for new fishing areas to explore. Before joining ski patrol at the local mountain, Chapelco, he used to guide in the Amazon for Golden Dorado during the winter months. You’re sure to have a great day with him on the river, and a fun drink together by the bar when you get back to the lodge!

Guides

Otto

Otto, a three year old Australian Shepard, will keep guests entertained at the lodge as soon as they step off the boat!

Our team of guides are professional and kind, and all speak very good English. Their local knowledge makes them excellent companions for a day on the river, and their skills will get you into fish no matter the conditions. Our trusted guides will soon become your dearest friends.

Bryn Kelley

A Colorado native, Bryn grew up fly fishing in the beautiful Rockies. After coming to Patagonia on holiday with her family for years, she decided to move here more permanently in 2017, and shortly thereafter, met Nico. She has worked in various fields, from guiding at a guest ranch in Montana, to marketing for the outdoor industry, to starting and operating a mobile bakery here in San Martín! Now she runs the lodge and helps with bookings for POF. She and Nico just had their first baby boy, Teo, who can be found crawling around the yard at Puente Negro!
